Even though they were very anti-communist like others have said I don't think GB and the west would blanket support Germany attacking the USSR out of near of Nazi domination but I could see if Germany did attack the USSR without Hitler and his insane genocidal policies, the Western Allies not doing anything and only intervening if it looked like one side was going to dominate the region. I feel like in order for Goering to get Britain and possibly the United States support in a war against the USSR, would be if the USSR somehow was the aggressor. Would Goering give him a place in power as Deputy Chancellor (or Chancellor if Goering decides to separate the Presidency from the Chancellery)? His influence is low enough to not be a threat to Goering's own power.Īnd the more exciting part, what happens to the war? Will Goering be more/less aggressive than Hitler when trying to conquer France? Would there be a war on the eastern front? Will there even be a tripartite pact? Hess was not present at the Beer Hall bombing, either. Undoubtedly some of those hardliners will think Goering was part of a monarchist/conservative conspiracy to take out Hitler and take power for himself, so he will need to find a way to straddle the sane German nationalists and fanatical Nazis. He probably keeps Jews citizenless in Germany to appease the Nazi hardliners. I do not think he will ever go anywhere close to Hitler/Himmler/Heydrich's levels of evil, however. I think that Goering's antisemitism was probably the same as much of Germany's, which had a long history of "casual" antisemitism. What happens next? Side note, Britain had actually conducted a bombing raid on Munich that evening, perhaps the initial reaction is the British killed Hitler? When the bomb detonates, all of them are killed, leaving Hermann Goering the highest ranking official in Germany and Hitler's successor per his 1939 wishes. Per Wikipedia, Hitler was accompanied by Joseph Goebbels, Reinhard Heydrich, Rudolf Hess, Robert Ley, Alfred Rosenberg, Julius Streicher, August Frank, Hermann Esser and Heinrich Himmler at the Beer Hall. Lets say theres better weather in Munich on 8 November 1939 and Hitler flies to Munich and stays the extra thirteen minutes until Elser's bomb detonates.
